He watches her - that she knows. At times, she does not know how it
makes her feel. That he would be so free with his looks - and she knows
that he knows that she knows that he watches. And there are other times,
yes, other times, when his slightest gaze is like unwanted touch upon
her skin. But there are other times, yes, other times, like now, where
she does not shy from the weight of his gaze, acting as if she does
not notice. There is light in his eyes, even though he stands in shadow
- and she can tell that he is following her, and she crosses through
the great hall, going to her uncle's side. And she cannot help herself,
feeling almost giddy with unnamed power, turning her gaze to his. She
meets his head on, and her lips curve, as she loses herself in thought:
and she imagines, his mouth upon her own. A kiss, she thinks, that would
do more than strip her bare. A kiss, she knows, that would take away
her breath, knowing his want - and if there is something that she sees,
as he watches, it is the force of his desire.
